Row House Garden

Brooklyn, New York

This Brooklyn rowhouse garden design was commissioned by an avid horticulturalist homeowner with an appreciation for classic garden design.

The outdoor space is 20' wide and has limited privacy due to adjacent rows of three-story buildings. The removal of extant paths allow for taller plantings along the sides to obscure views into the site. The area closest to the house was reconfigured to include cutting gardens, a new grill and dining area, and curved steps leading to a secluded garden retreat. The conceptual planting plan provides structure while allowing the owner to experiment with a variety of plant material.
